     VARKALA BEACH

 Running through Varkala beach  :-

Last week, that  was a rainy day ,with  my office colleagues I ran through the beach of Varkala . We were on our return journey after attending the marriage of my friend's brother at Karunagappally (Kollam Dist:) in two cars. We also spent some time in a resort enjoying the scenic beauty of the beach.
Being a near by place of Trivandrum it was my fault That I haven't seen this beautiful  place till this time .In World tourist Calender Varkala Beach is rated as the  28th must see place in the world, recently.

On my running session to escape from rain I took some quick photographs, posted below.

{Varkala is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian sea.
These tertiary sedimentary formation cliffs are a unique geological feature on the otherwise flat Kerala coast, and is known among geologists as Varkala Formation and a geological monument as declared by the Geological Survey of India. There are numerous water spouts and Spas on the sides of these cliffs.Tourism started thriving by the end of last century at the Varkala beach(Papanasam), which was earlier famous for Vavu Beli, a Hindu custom performed at the beach} (Courtesy -Wiki P)

Some photos of our visit to  elephant rehabilitation center at                            Kappukad near Kottoor.

Kottoor, lying in the lap of the Agasthyarkoodam hill range in the Western Ghats and located towards the east of Kerala's Capital City, Thiruvananthapuram. The region with a good forest cover is a major living area for birds and other wildlife, and is marked by tall forest tree species and numerous rivulets and streams. This forest area is part of the Agasthyavanam Biological Park .
In Kappukad rehabilitation center visitors can have a close look at aged elephants  and young ones being trained . Elephant safari is also possible here.
