                         Kumily, Chellarkoil & Cumbum

During this trip our stay was at Kumily ( Holiday Home ) a town in Idukki District near Thekkady and it is the border of kerala and Tamilnadu. It is a major spices trading center in South India. With the nearby Periyar Tiger Reserve and Thekkady lake, Kumily also has attracted tourist traffic. The next day we went to Chellarkoil mettu. Chellarkoil is a small village near kumily (15 kms ). This village is border to the Cumbum in Tamilnadu. The Views of the plains in Cumbum from Chellarkoil is beautiful and almost similar to that of  Ramakkal mettu. After that we went to Cumbum Village. Cumbum town is located in the Theni District of Tamil Nadu.

The soil in this region is mostly red soil in nature. and agriculture plays a vital role for its developmental activities. The climatic conditions  here helps to grow different  verities of  sweetest grapes . The area is also a fomous shooting location for a number of  Malayalam and  Tamil films. On the way we can also see the recently built  memento to the famous British Engineer, Colonel John Pennycuick.
